With Italian heritage, she was married to Gabriel Betancourt, a former finance minister and diplomat. Pulecio is the mother of Astrid Betancourt and Ingrid Betancourt, the latter being a noteworthy politician who was kidnapped by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and held captive for six and a half years before her rescue in 2008.
