Yevhen Lapinsky was a Ukrainian volleyball player born on March 23, 1942, in Kalacheyevsky District and passed away on September 29, 1999, in Odessa. He competed for the Soviet Union in the 1960s and 1970s, winning an Olympic gold medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and a bronze medal in 1972 in Munich. His accolades include a bronze medal at the 1966 World Volleyball Championship and two gold medals at the European Volleyball Championship in 1967 and 1971. He was recognized as Odessa's best volleyball player of the 20th century.
