Ye Jiangchuan is a prominent Chinese chess player, born on November 20, 1960. He is a Grandmaster and one of the leading chess figures in modern China. Ye won the Chinese National Championships seven times in years 1981, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1994, and 1996. In 1993, he became the third Chinese player to achieve the Grandmaster title after Ye Rongguang and Zeng Jian. He made history on January 1, 2000, by being the first Chinese player to surpass the 2600 Elo rating barrier.
