Yank Lawson was an influential American jazz trumpeter known for his contributions to Dixieland jazz and swing. Initially, he played saxophone and piano, performing with local bands. Lawson became a founding member of the Bob Crosby Orchestra and recorded numerous pieces with the band. He worked with several prominent figures like Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman and later took on the role of a studio musician. In the 1950s, he led his own band, the Lawson-Haggart Band. He remained active in the jazz scene until his passing in 1995.
