Yang Guitong (August 24, 1931 – January 24, 2016) was a renowned Chinese mechanical scientist and expert in plastic dynamics. He graduated from Shanxi University in Civil Engineering in 1953 and taught there. He studied at Peking University and obtained a Ph.D. in plastic dynamics from the Institute of Mechanics of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. He served as the president of Taiyuan University of Technology from 1983 to 1994 and authored several academic works, including texts on elastic-plastic mechanics and dynamics.
