Yakov Matveyevich Ivanov was a Soviet fighter pilot in the Navy during World War II. Born on October 17, 1916, in Selivanovo, Novgorod Governorate, he became notable for his bravery in combat. He participated in key battles of the Great Patriotic War and was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on January 17, 1942, after his death in the Black Sea on November 17, 1941. He held the rank of junior lieutenant as of August 33, 1940.
