Wolfgang Luppe was a German papyrologist and classical scholar known for his research on Greek literary papyri and his challenging career as a scientist in East Germany (DDR). He gained international recognition for his work and served as a professor at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Luppe was also part of the editorial board of the Journal of Papyrology. He was born on August 7, 1931, in Dessau, Germany, and passed away on December 27, 2014.
