Wolfgang Altenburger (September 19, 1931 - March 18, 2008) was a prominent German comic author, known for his roles as editor-in-chief of the comic 'Mosaik' and the children's magazine 'Atze.' He played a significant role in the German Democratic Republic's comic scene, being recognized as the most productive comic writer of the DDR. Altenburger was an influential figure, educating young people through comics and receiving the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1982. Despite challenges after the reunification of Germany, he continued to work in the comic industry until his death in Berlin.
