Wilson Kipketer, born on December 12, 1972, in Kamploops, Kenya, is a Danish middle-distance runner known for holding the title of the second fastest 800 meters runner in history with a time of 1:41.11. In the 1990s, he was the fastest, breaking his own record twice in 1997. Kipketer won gold medals at the World Athletics Championships three consecutive times starting in 1995 and earned a silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics and bronze at the 2004 Olympics. He retired in August 2005.
