Willy Schagen was a Dutch boxer born on November 14, 1925, in Amsterdam. He began his boxing career as an amateur, achieving a record of only 16 losses in 100 fights. Schagen turned professional on January 15, 1949, winning his debut match by knockout. He had a notable opportunity to fight for the vacant European Championship title in light heavyweight against Conny Rux on July 26, 1952, but lost that match. He captured the Dutch championship in 1950, which he regained in 1956 but lost in 1958. Schagen retired after his last fight on October 6, 1960.
