William F. Barnes was an American college football player and coach, born on October 20, 1917. He served as the head football coach at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 1958 to 1964, where he led the UCLA Bruins to a record of 31–34–3. His tenure included two seven-win seasons in 1960 and 1961 and a notable appearance in the 1962 Rose Bowl. Barnes passed away on April 23, 2009.
