Born on October 25, 1904, he commanded the submarine Grayback and earned the Navy Cross for his valor in combat. After the war, he held significant commands, including Submarine Base Key West and Destroyer Squadron 30. Although he retired in 1957, he returned to active duty in 1963, serving on the Inter-American Defense Board until 1964. He passed away on November 2, 1969.
