Wilford Henry Gibson was a British police officer known for his extensive service in the London Metropolitan Police. He served in the Royal Air Force from 1943 to 1947 before joining the Metropolitan Police as a Constable in 1947. Gibson climbed the ranks, becoming an Inspector in 1960, Superintendent in 1965, and Commander in 1971. Notably, he commanded operations during significant sieges in 1975 and was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 1976. He was appointed Assistant Commissioner in 1977 and received the CBE in 1980, retiring in 1984.
