Werner Drechsler was a German U-boat sailor (U 118) in the Kriegsmarine during World War II. After being captured by the US Navy in 1943 near the Azores, he gathered intelligence on submarines for the US authorities. On March 12, 1944, he was lynched by seven fellow prisoners from other submarines who were later sentenced to death for the act. This incident was described as a femicide in a German-language publication by Paul Carell and Günter Böddeker.
