Rowland Ward Edmonds was an American pole vaulter born on July 3, 1908. He was notable for being one of the first athletes to clear 14 feet (4.26 m) in pole vaulting. Edmonds achieved significant success in the sport, winning NCAA championships in 1928 and 1929. He graduated from Stanford University, but tragically passed away from polio at the young age of 22 on October 26, 1930.
