Walter Lüftl is an Austrian civil engineer born on November 6, 1933, in Vienna. He served as president of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Engineers from 1990 to 1992. Lüftl authored the controversial 'Lüftl Report' in 1991, which denied the feasibility of mass killings with gas in Nazi concentration camps, promoting Holocaust denial. Following media scrutiny of his revisionist views, he resigned from office in March 1992. In December 2009, he received a Golden Engineer Diploma from the Vienna University of Technology, which was later revoked in January 2010 after public backlash.
