He emigrated to the USA in the 1930s, where he engaged in propaganda and espionage for the NSDAP, serving as editor-in-chief of the Deutsche Zeitung and propaganda leader for the Amerikadeutscher Bund. After returning to Germany, he worked as a counterintelligence officer, leading the sabotage operation known as Pastorius. His activities were a blend of journalism and political maneuvering within the context of Nazi objectives.
