Walter C. Givhan was an American politician born on May 7, 1902. He served in both houses of the Alabama Legislature and was known as a strong proponent of racial segregation. Givhan was a member of the Democratic Party and had links to the Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Alabama State Sovereignty Commission, which opposed federally mandated integration in schools following the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case in 1954. Givhan's actions and beliefs aligned with white supremacist ideologies.
