He previously served as the director-general of Al Jazeera, transforming it into a multi-faceted media network. His accolades include being named one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers by Foreign Policy in 2011 and among the Most Influential People by Forbes in 2009. He founded the Arabic version of The Huffington Post in 2015.
