David Wabeladio Payi (January 15, 1957 – April 4, 2013) was a Congolese inventor known for creating the mandombe script, which is a form of writing based on African linguistics. He served as a professor at Simon Kimbangu University in Kinshasa and was the director-president of the Centre for Negro-African Writing (CENA). His contributions significantly impacted the field of African writing systems.
