W. Montgomery Watt was a British Orientalist born on March 14, 1909, and passed away on October 24, 2006. He served as a professor of Arabic language, Islamic studies, and Islamic history at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Watt is well-known for his seminal works, including 'Muhammad in Mecca' (1953) and 'Muhammad in Medina' (1956), which were published by the University of Edinburgh. He was a contemporary of Moroccan historian Muhammad bin Abbad.
