W. J. Gruffydd, also known as Elerydd, was a Welsh writer born in Ffair-rhos, Ceredigion on September 24, 1916. He served as a minister and gained recognition for his poetry and stories, particularly featuring characters Tomos and Marged. His bardic name, Elerydd, refers to the Leri River near his home. Gruffydd won literary crowns at Eisteddfods in 1955 and 1960. He held the title of Archdruid from 1984 to 1987 and is remembered for his contributions to Welsh literature before passing away on April 21, 2011.
