He became notable for his book 'The Song of Pentecost,' which was published in 1982 and won the Whitbread Award for Children's Book of the Year. He continued to write sequels and other works, including 'The Ark of the People' and 'The Quest for the End of the Tail.' Corbett had a diverse career, which included joining the British Merchant Navy and working in physical training for the British Army. He passed away on February 15, 2003.
