Victoria D. Alexander is a British academic and Senior Lecturer in the Sociology of Art at Goldsmiths, University of London. She previously taught at Harvard University and the University of Surrey. Alexander is known for her book 'Sociology of Arts', which builds on Howard S. Becker's theory of Art Worlds. It analyzes the relationship between art and society through a Cultural Diamond framework, considering art producers, mediators, and consumers, without differentiating between high and popular art. She is also the president of the European Sociological Association’s Research Network on the Sociology of the Arts.
