Victor Huber Yngve (July 5, 1920 – January 15, 2012) was an honorary member of the linguistics department at the University of Chicago and a pioneer in computational linguistics and natural language processing. He created the first program to generate random yet grammatically correct sentences using the text of a children's book. Yngve's work demonstrated the limitations of computer processing of language based on cognitive constraints, including the 'depth limit' concept developed by George Miller. He also developed the COMIT language for text processing.
