Victor Kelleher is an Australian writer, born in London in 1939. He moved to Africa at fifteen and spent twenty years there, before relocating to New Zealand. Kelleher earned a Masters and a Ph.D. in English Literature, teaching in Africa, New Zealand, and Australia. He began writing in New Zealand out of homesickness for Africa and later moved to Australia in 1976. He served as an associate professor at the University of New England before writing full-time. Kelleher has received numerous awards, including the Australian Children's Book Award.
