Věra Matějů is a Czech publicist and curator, born on July 26, 1947, in Prague. She studied philosophy and worked in the editorial office of the magazine Fotografie. After leaving this position, she became a press spokesperson. Matějů has been the long-term chairwoman of the Union of Czech Photographers and has conceived and organized the Prague Photography competition and exhibition, which first took place in 1995. She was awarded by the Czech Ministry of Culture in 2012 for her contributions to non-professional audiovisual and visual arts.
