Vasily Alexandrovich Smirnov was a Soviet writer born on December 31, 1904, in the village of Sinitsyno. He began publishing his works in 1924, and a year later, he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Smirnov served as the editor-in-chief of the Druzhba Narodov magazine from 1960 to 1965. He passed away in 1979.
