He is known for his landscapes and portraits, influenced by his teacher, Kostis Parthenis. During the occupation of Greece, he reflected his political views and experiences as a resistance fighter in his works. In the 1940s, he developed a robust realism style with expressionist elements. His later works included themes from island life, primarily after he moved to Rhodes. Semertzidis passed away on February 1, 1983, in Athens, leaving a legacy of numerous significant works in various collections.
