Val Plumwood (August 11, 1939 - February 29, 2008) was an Australian ecofeminist philosopher known for her work in human-centered philosophy and radical ecological thought. Since the 1970s, she has played a key role in environmental philosophy, opposing the separation between humans and nature. Plumwood authored or co-authored four books and over 100 academic papers on logic, metaphysics, ecology, and ecofeminism. Her influential works include 'Feminism and the Mastery of Nature' (1993) and 'Environmental Culture: The Ecological Crisis' (2002). She survived a crocodile attack in 1985, which inspired her posthumous book 'The Eye of the Crocodile' (2012).
