V. T. Arasu was a prominent Singaporean journalist, civil servant, and Tamil enthusiast, born on January 11, 1926, in India. After moving to Singapore in 1951, he joined Tamil Murasu as a sub-editor. He significantly contributed to the cultural and educational movements in the 1950s and 1960s. Returning to Tamil Murasu in 1989 as Chief Editor, he transformed it from a struggling publication into a successful one, quadrupling its circulation and ensuring its continuity by integrating it into Singapore Press Holdings.
