Vasant Shankar Huzurbazar (1919-1991) was a prominent Indian statistician from Kolhapur, known for founding the statistics department at the University of Pune, where he served from 1953 to 1976. He held visiting professorships at the University of Manitoba and Iowa State University, and later taught at the University of Denver until his passing. His notable accolades include receiving the Padma Bhushan in 1974 for his contributions to statistics, and being elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 1983.
