V. E. Kholshevnikov was a Soviet and Russian theorist and historian of literature, as well as an educator. Born on November 15, 1910, in Kyiv, he participated in World War II. He authored numerous works addressing issues related to verse theory and the writings of prominent Russian authors such as Pushkin, Mayakovsky, Dostoevsky, and Saltykov-Shchedrin. His textbook 'Fundamentals of Verse Theory' has been reprinted several times, and he compiled an anthology 'Thought Armed with Rhymes,' which collects verse forms from the 18th to 20th centuries with critical commentary.
