V. D. Krishnaswami was an Indian archaeologist known for his significant contributions to archaeology in South India during the 20th century. He served as the director of the Salar Jung Museum and the Indian Museum and held the position of deputy director-general of the Archaeological Survey of India. His work in the 1940s and 1950s focused on the discovery of Stone Age and megalithic sites, particularly around Chennai, in collaboration with Mortimer Wheeler. He played a vital role in the development of archaeological research and heritage in India.
