Urmas Laansoo is an Estonian botanist born on February 23, 1962. He studied biology at Tartu University, after finishing school at Kohila Keskkool. Laansoo has enriched his training at the Gothenburg Botanical Garden in Sweden and at Greenwich University in the United Kingdom. Since 1985, he has worked as a botanist at the Tallinn Botanical Garden, where he began working part-time in 1978. He has contributed to various publications on botany and has appeared in radio and television programs to discuss plants.
