Upendra Devkota was a renowned Nepali neurosurgeon who significantly contributed to the field of medicine in Nepal. He established the first neurological trauma unit at Bir Hospital and played a pivotal role in founding the National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences, the country's first institute dedicated to Neurosciences. Devkota also served as the Minister for Health, Science and Technology in the Government of Nepal and is widely recognized as the father of modern Neurosurgery in the country.
