Don Upatissa Gamanayake, also known as Dias Mudalali, was a Sri Lankan politician and deputy leader of the Jantha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) during the 1987–1989 insurrection. Initially not a major figure in the JVP’s 1971 insurrection, he rose to prominence after the release of JVP detainees in 1977, quickly ascending the party hierarchy. He failed to win the 1983 Anamaduwa by-election. Gamanayake was ultimately captured and killed by government forces in November 1989.
