Ulla Koivisto is a Finnish dancer, choreographer, and dance pedagogue born on August 11, 1950. A pioneer of Finnish contemporary dance, she studied modern dance in Helsinki and ballet in Stockholm, later gaining experience in New York. Koivisto has collaborated with several contemporary composers and is committed to using live music in her works. She has held teaching positions at various universities, including the Theatre Academy of Finland, and has been the artistic director of Dance Theatre Wima in Seinäjoki since 2004. She received notable awards for her contributions to dance.
