Udai Fujishima was a Japanese poet and critic born on April 7, 1924, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from Keio University, where he became involved with literary circles such as 'Mita Bungaku' and 'Rekitei.' In 1951, he published his poetry collection titled 'From the Valley.' He worked as a reporter addressing issues concerning Okinawa, the Zainichi Korean community, and marginalized groups in Japan. Notably, he is credited with coining the term 'forced recruitment of Koreans.' Fujishima passed away on December 2, 1997.
