Serving as the Secretary of Samoan Affairs after being sworn in on June 21, 1963, he played a significant role in local governance. A notable figure, he wrote a letter to President Kennedy that is displayed in the JFK Presidential Library. His royal title, Le'iato, is prestigious, being second only to the King of Manuʻa. His lineage connects to many prominent Samoans, including filmmaker Queen Muhammad Ali and NFL player Fotu T. Leiato II.
