Thubten Jigme Norbu, also known as Taktser Rinpoche, was a Tibetan lama, writer, civil rights activist, and professor of Tibetan studies. Born on August 16, 1922, in Taktser and passing away on September 5, 2008, in Indiana, he was the elder brother of the fourteenth Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. Norbu was one of the first prominent Tibetans in exile and co-founder of the International Tibet Independence Movement. His autobiography, 'Tibet – Lost Home,' was written by Heinrich Harrer during Norbu's stay in Kitzbühel, Austria, in 1959.
