He worked at the Norwegian Radium Hospital and later at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, where he became a professor. His research focused on the metabolism of radioactive components in tissues related to cancer, studying the enzyme that removes phosphate from building blocks needed for cellular information transfer, discovering a new enzyme, and publishing numerous articles on his findings.
