Tove Smidth is a Danish journalist and politician born on January 7, 1923. She served as the mayor of Gladsaxe Municipality from 1974 to 1983, representing the Social Democrats party. Smidth entered municipal politics by being elected to the municipal council in Gladsaxe in 1966. In 1973, she was chosen as the Social Democrats' candidate for mayor after the sitting mayor left the party to form the Centrum-Demokraterne. She won the mayoral election in 1974 and passed the position on to her party colleague Ole Andersen in 1983.
