Torgil Ekman, born December 11, 1935, is a computer scientist and textbook author known for his pioneering work in computer programming education in Sweden. He was a university lecturer at Lund University and played a key role in developing the SMIL computer, one of the earliest in Sweden. Ekman contributed to the creation of an Algol 60 compiler for SMIL and was instrumental in establishing programming courses at Lund Institute of Technology during the 1960s. His textbooks on programming languages like Algol, COBOL, Fortran, and Pascal were widely used in universities.
