His notable series include Trompie and Saartjie (under the pseudonym Bettie Naudé), which significantly contributed to Afrikaans literature, inspiring generations of young readers. The first Trompie story was published in 1950, with a TV series following in 1980. The Saartjie series debuted in 1953 and continued until 1958, and both series have seen multiple republications. His last book, Nog net een keer, was published posthumously in 1991.
