She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1988 for her novel 'Beloved' and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993 for her body of work. Morrison was also honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2012. Her notable works include 'The Bluest Eye', 'Song of Solomon', 'Beloved', 'Jazz', and 'Paradise'. She passed away on August 5, 2019.
