Tom J. Kealy was an American chemist, known for his co-discovery of ferrocene, a significant compound in organometallic chemistry. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College and earned a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Duquesne University in 1951. His thesis work led to the synthesis of ferrocene, published in Nature, marking the beginning of new metallic organic sandwich compounds. After completing his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University, he worked for 30 years at DuPont.
