Group Captain Thomas Percy Gleave CBE was a distinguished British fighter pilot renowned for his service during the Battle of Britain. Shot down in his Hurricane in the summer of 1940, he suffered severe burns and became one of the first patients treated by Sir Archibald McIndoe. Gleave was known as the first and only Chief Guinea Pig at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, exhibiting resilience and courage in the face of adversity.
