Tōichi Watanabe (September 1912 - March 8, 2001) was a Japanese scholar of English education, known for his contributions to the field. He was born in Nagoya and graduated from the Tokyo Higher Normal School in 1934. Throughout his career, he held professorships at several universities, including Gakushuin University and Soka University. Watanabe was also involved in editing a column called 'Question Box' for the publication 'English Education.' In his later years, he used the pen name Tōshi.
