Tivadar Bantay was a Hungarian and Swedish oboist born on October 13, 1928, who gained recognition for his performances throughout Europe. He won first prize at the Prague Spring Music Festival in 1953. After the suppression of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, he left Hungary, later playing with the Mozarteum Orchestra and establishing himself in Sweden, where he served as a soloist with the Royal Chapel from 1962 to 1992. Bantay contributed to notable recordings, including a radio opera premiere and works for various ensembles.
